Here it is January 12, 2012 and we are having our first real snow. Of course it is quite the snow as it started this AM and is not to end until tomorrow evening.
Yesterday the temperature was 45, I did not wear a coat to the store and some of our customers actually had shorts on….Yes, we do live in WI … why do you ask?
So today it is 24, I am wearing a coat, have been shoveling the sidewalk but ya know, it is pretty. Everything is white and pure looking, soft crunching sounds when you walk in the snow and it does feel good to come inside to a hot fire.
So, if YOU have postponed updating your winter wardrobe..come on it. We have just got 2 yes 2 wonderful Lily Ann winter coats that are simply MAGNIFICANT!!!! 1 in particular is red with white fox at the wrist. What more do you want???? Come on now…. Lily Ann red with white Fox???
We also have some great early 60′s cashmere and some in your face plaids to simply die for…

I personally am not ready for them …but they are coming and as a business, I guess I better get on board. The Downtown is planning some wonderful fun times to be had by all ages. First on November 10th is the live reindeer, elves, sleigh and music in Opera House Square prior to the tree lighting. The fun starts at 3:30 and the lighting ceremony is at 6 PM…then comes the parade at 6:30
The next fun thing is on November 19th and it is an open house for all of Downtown Oshkosh. Free horse and carriage rides downtown, Madrigal singers and music groups are certain to put you in the mood for holiday shopping. If that doesn’t do it for you…well, prepare yourself for a ONE DAY sale at participating stores. Santa says that this is the day to start your holiday shopping.
AND…last but not least are the NUTCRACKERS…and yes, AtomicKatz has a wonderful Nutcracker that was designed by the wonderful artists from Jambalaya Art Collective. It is a tribute to the humanities and is FABULOUS!!! be sure to stop in and see it.

Start finding those sunglasses as the Downtown is starting to look even brighter than usual. The Oshkosh Public Museum has a fabulous exhibit called
Bling which is vintage clothing from the 1850-1950′s and their version of Bling.
The Downtown businesses are partnering with the Museum to promote their version of Bling! 20 individual businesses are creating a bust that speaks to Bling! as they see it.
These wonderful creations will be on display during the October Gallery Walk on October 1 and then utilized throughout the city as promo pieces before they end up being part of the exhibit.
This is not to be missed!!!

Yes my friends, it was a classic punking by our neighbors – Reimer Jewelers. I do have to hand it to them, it was a classic set up and delivery…there were a few hints that indeed it was a punking …but they always pulled it off so smooth, we tended to believe in Marge and Gladys and looked forward to their notes.
We got to the Boat Landing…and were shown to a table with multiple bags, a sign in sheet and a display sign that said “Giving to the Community” with guest speakers Diedre and Sally from the Charity Cart Store”
As we sat down, opened each bag and laughed outrageously at each “treasure”, the night simply took a life of its own. I know that we support Oshkosh, WI and feel fortunate and happy to be part of the exciting Downtown Business area…But as the ad says…to be punked for 6 months, get more useless objects d’art that you could ever imagine….and laugh loudly and often with good business friends….PRICELSS!!!
So stop in at our brick and mortar in Exciting Downtown Oshkosh and see the treasures. We will probably laugh all over again telling you the story.

So, being the nicer person…I called and had over 1/2 hour phone call with Midge. Explained NO, we are not dong a charity cart and NO we haven’t made a profit on their wonderful items…and NO we cannot do a presentation on our charity cart…Friends, let me tell you that was quite the ordeal. She reminded me so much of my Aunt Marian with having to figure out who would pay for what and when and why…but I felt pretty good and felt I got my points across and in the end, agreed to meet them for a drink as it was offered several times during our “friendship”.
So here we are Tuesday, come in and open the store only to find a message on the phone asking what we need to have ready for our presentation…….ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! and of course there was no phone number so I have to go home, find the card, call again and hopefully get it straight…However, we are set to meet at the “Boat Landing” tonight at 6:30 so stay tune for tomorrow when I update everyone on these two delightful ladies who have been leaving us presents for months. I know I am looking forward to it and worse case scenario is Deb can speak on anything for a short time and that is what we will have to do. Stay tuned…tomorrow is the biggie!!!

I am getting smarter…I kept the card this time. But on Saturday, when we came to open the store, there was another bag in the door way with 2 dolls and a “your a special person” card.
… So here is the card “Well Friends, we are out again today to the farmers Market and I want to bless you with a little something to sell and make a profit on. We came all the way across town last week and found out the market was moved because of EAA. I do enjoy wathcing the planes. It brings back memories some good and some sad. I still love a man in uniform. Gladys feels that we should get a cellular phone so we won’t have to sit at home waiting for the phone to ring. Who’s going to call? She sometimes acts like the first lady! I told her I wanted to come out and meet you and maybe have a cocktail and maybe dinner. God bless for all you do…Midge and Gladys”
Well friends…what do you think??? it is a couple of sweet little old ladies who have adopted AtomicKatz as their special project and are sharing their treasures … OR are we being punked ????
As Wm Shakespear once penned… To be or not to be etc etc….

Well, the saga continues. It is now the end of May-early June and surprise….another gift from the mystery ladies. This time it is a small pitcher /basin AND an artist dressed cat painting a portrait. AND another card .. another get well card no less.
Again I do wish I could quote it but paraphasing they again hoped we could make a profit and did want to stop in and visit very soon but their lives were quite busy right now
They also mentioned one of our new neighbors who is “Elle Mae Romance Boutique as this was something that used to be only talked about in the bedroom or over coffee in the kitchen with girlfriends…tee hee”…. so again…is this real or memorix??? I simply cannot tell
